Course Information:
Course 1 Radiology of Instability Saturday 8am-1pm	Definitions and criteria for instability. Anatomical basis for instability. Radiologic imaging for the evaluation of instability. Upper cervical spine instability. Atlanto-occipital instability. Atlanto-axial instability. Occipital-axial instability. Mid cervical instability. Evaluation of flexion-extension views. Evaluation of lateral bending/rotation views. Differential diagnosis of cervical spine instability. Lumbar spine instability. Evaluation of flexion-extension views. Evaluation of lateral bending/rotation views. Differential diagnosis of lumbar spine instability. Instability in extremity articulations. Evaluation of radiographs of the hip, knee, wrist and shoulders. Case studies with plain film techniques and additional imaging modalities as needed for diagnosis.
Course 2 Lower Extremity Adjusting Saturday 2pm-9pm	Learn how the lower extremity functions as a chain of connected “machines” How the fibrosis of repair from injury, leading to joint fixation/subluxation, results in over use injuries such as: Plantar Fascitis Heel Spurs Stress Fractures Morton’s Neuroma Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome Shin Splints PatelloFemoral Arthralgia Ilio-Tibial Band Syndrome Meralgia Paresthetica Adjustive technique for: Ankle mortise and talus Calcaneus and navicular Cuboid and Cuneiforms Tarsometatarsal articulation Metatarsophalangeal joints Tibia and fibula Patella and Meniscus Hip
Course 3 Radiology Guidelines Sunday 8am-1pm	Practical review of the new X-ray guidelines recently published in JMPT. Review of development of the guidelines. Review of the guidelines as they pertain to the: Cervical spine Thoracolumbar spine Pelvis Upper extremities Lower extremities Criteria for X-ray, supporting documentation, and case studies for each circumstance. Evaluate x-rays for: Radiographic signs Associated conditions Clinical impact Need for additional studies if applicable Impact on prognosis both short term and long term

CE Renewal requirements

	Chiropractic License	Radiography Supervisor and Operator Permit
Expires:	Annually at the end of your birth month	Every two years. Expiration date printed on permit
CE required:	12 hours, including 4 hours of adjustive technique.	10 hours of x-ray.

James Carter, DC, DACBR

An associate professor of radiology at Life West, Dr. Carter received his Diplomate, American Chiropractic Board of Radiology in 1988. He has been integrally involved in the development of Life West’s digital imaging facilities.

Bryan Gatterman, DC, DACBR

Dr. Bryan Gatterman is clinical radiologist for the Life West Health Center and has served on the Life West faculty since 1983. He received his Diplomate, American Chiropractic Board of Radiology at Western States Chiropractic College in 1982. He is a past president of the American Chiropractic College of Radiology.

Paul D. Walton, BS, DC, CCSP, CCEP

Dr. Walton has been in private practice since graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in 1984. His 1980 Bachelors of Science in Physical Education emphasized biomechanics, exercise physiology and athletic training. He is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), Certified Chiropractic Extremity Physician (CCEP) and has completed the Chiropractic Orthopedic Curriculum. He has been a member of the Life Chiropractic College West faculty since 1988 teaching in the clinic and technique departments.

Dr. Walton is also a member of the support team for Coach Mike Bottom and Bottom Line Aquatics. Every summer Coach Bottom holds a summer camp at UC Berkeley for elite Olympic sprint swimmers from all around the world. For over 6 years, Dr. Walton has been helping the athletes get the "Chiropractic Edge" to maximize their performance.

Life West will only notify advance registrants of any cancellation or program changes. Life West is not responsible for any expenses incurred by registrants due to adjustments or cancellations.

A $50 processing fee will be charged for refunds if the registrant provides written notice of cancellation at least one (1) business day prior to the seminar start date. Registration is nonrefundable if the program for which it applies is conducted as scheduled; however, a credit voucher may be issued, minus a $25 processing charge. A credit voucher must be requested within sixty (60) days of the seminar end date. The credit voucher may be applied towards another Life West program and must be redeemed within one (1) year of the original scheduled program date or it will be forfeited.
